Still, I've made myself a $5.00 Steinway thanks to Reaper. I would have used more instances of RSOM5K if I thought I'd be able to run it smoothly. Seems the more samples that are played at once the more CPU power is used. But if I start sweeping up and down the Virtual keyboard I can make the Perf meter freak out sending the piano track from 13% idle to 80% or more. If I don't play anything or if I program a skimpy midi track here, the CPU hit is negligible. I basically used all the different C's in the set except for one that just did not sound right in any velocity, in which case I substituted a nearby D that did, and expanded them to fill the halfway marks up and down to the next C until I covered the whole keyboard or at least the usable given range. I was successful however in creating a complete virtual Steinway piano using 8 instances of ReasamplOmatic5K, that is once I figured out how to set the values in RSOM5K. Overall not bad, but I had to search through the samples just to find which ones sounded like the same piano even though they were supposedly from a single source.

I ran into this problem with this cheap (5.00) set of samples I picked up. You'll find the overall balance badly neglected on a lot of them even if they initially sound good.
